The best way to combat cancer is to have regular annual screening by qualified medical personnel. The Cancer Detection Centre,at 42 Babar Road, New Delhi - 110001 provides a complete screening of a symptomatic persons in the following manner:
- Clinical examination of persons coming for cancer check-up by three specialist doctors; ear-nose-throat (ENT) surgeon, General surgeon, and Gynecologist. test including examination of men, and Pap smear test and breast examination for women
- Routine Blood count.
- X-ray examination of chest.
The centre also counsels and advises people on the following cancer related issues:
- To give up chewing tobacco, Pan Parag, smoking etc.
- Teaching women to do self breast examination
- Advising treatment for common ailments as detected during examination.
- Advising special investigations where required, at specially discounted rates.
- Follow up cases advised investigations and specially of suspicious cases by letters and telephone calls.
- Send yearly reminders to persons who have come for cancer check-up.
- Explain and offer Cancer Insurance to persons who have come cancer check-up.
- Giving reports to persons coming for cancer checkup.
- Conduct Cancer Detection Camps at different parts of Delhi .
- There is a nominal registration fee of Rs.150/- per person.
- The centre is open to public from 9:00 A.M.- 12:00 NOON on Monday To Friday.
- No prior appointment is needed.
MOBILE CANCER DETECTION UNIT In order to create cancer awareness and to encourage more and more people to undergo regular cancer check-ups, the Society operates a Mobile Cancer Detection Centre to provide cancer check-up facilities to people at a nominal cost without losing any working day, at the worksite, in factories, workshops, ofiices, housings complexes etc. on request. This Mobile Clinic consisting of an X-ray mounted fully equipped motorized van which carries doctors ( ENT Surgeon, Gen. Surgeon and a Gynaecologist) and other para medical staff to the check-up camp sites, can effectively carry out all of the tests normally undertaken at a regular detection centre. Those who undergo cancer check-ups at these camps are given individual check-up report and suspected cases are referred to cancer hospital for further investigation/treatment.
To organize a Mobile Camp, please contact the ICS office for details. Dates must be booked atleast 2 weeks in advance. A nominal charge of Rs. 200/- per head is made. 40 persons can be screened in every 3-hour session.
Minimum Charge is Rs.8000/- for camp. We need well wishers to sponsor campus in slums and poor neighbourhood. Cost of Mobile Camp is Rs 8000.
